Core RE
Core Religious Education:
This is a two year course in Religious Education that covers a wide range of topics, always with the idea of helping you discover more about yourself, the world around you, your faith and the faith of others. We study the course through the lenses of theology and religion, sociology, psychology and dialogue. The course plays a key role in promoting social cohesion and the virtues of respect and empathy, which are imperative in our diverse community.
The aims of the course are to provide students with the opportunity to reflect upon and develop their own faith position and enable students to use a range of skills that will be valuable during their time in school and beyond.
The lessons promote the moral, spiritual, and cultural development of each student and give them the opportunity to explore ethical and religious matters in regards to modern culture. The course provides students with the opportunity to learn about the wider community and other faiths.
Here is what some of our students said about Core RE:
“The content we study is very interesting and different from what you learn in your other subjects”
“The activities included in the lessons are fun, engaging and interactive”
“The course makes me question my own beliefs and the beliefs of others”
